The active ingredient kills worker ants slowly so they have time to take the bait back to the queen and kill the colony. This product is a bait, so you will initially see more ants. Decreased ant activity will be observed as soon as 24 hours after bait placement, and fire ant control will occur in as little as 48 hours after application. Use for broadcast or mound treatment. This 5 pound bag treats 10,000 square feet for broadcast treatment. Apply in early spring or summer at the first sign of fire ant activity, then again the fall to reduce the number of ants that return next spring.
